How You Can Help Endometriosis
Endometriosis is often a painful medical condition that effects women normally between the ages of 20 – 40 however, it can strike at any point after puberty. But is there help for endometriosis?
There is still no known cure for this condition (or defined cause), so affected women rely on various medical and non-medical treatments that are available on the market today. One such treatment is the use of natural progesterone.
Symptoms of Endometriosis
Before we discuss how natural progesterone works in treating endometriosis, it’s important to determine why treatment is so necessary in the first place.
Pain and nausea are two of the common symptoms of this condition, and it is usually for these reasons that women seek treatment. Other irritating symptoms that women wish to eliminate are pain during bowel functions, sexual intercourse and urination.
Use of Natural Progesterone vs. Other Treatments
Surgery is the most expensive treatment of all, and may involve the removal of the uterus or the elimination or resection of endometrial implants and growths. Medication on the other hand works by two ways: it can either help alleviate the pain through painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs or by suppressing the menstrual cycle. This consequently suppresses the growth of endometrial implants, which is what causes the painful symptoms.
Natural progesterone however has proven to be relatively successful for those who have not already tried it.
Although natural progesterone can work effectively for most people, it has proven to be most successful on people who are not overweight. To treat endometriosis with natural progesterone cream, start by applying it on your neck, chest area, hands, arms and legs, and lastly your feet before you go to bed.
This is not a quick fix method and as a guide you should expect to use progesterone cream for initially between 4-6 months and use about one half or one teaspoon per day. Although make sure you follow the instructions given with the product carefully
If you’re worried about allergic reactions, you can always ask your physician about it or try a small skin test by placing a drop of it on a less visible area of your body.
The best time to start using this cream is on the sixth day after your period starts. For those with irregular menstrual cycles, using natural progesterone cream can not only help in treating endometriosis, but help to regulate your cycle as well.
If you are experiencing painful cramps during your period and these continue to persist, you have the option of applying the natural progesterone cream directly to those areas where you are suffering discomfort.
To be effective chose a cream that contains ‘synthetic natural progesterone’. Don’t be mislead by plant based progesterone products as these aren’t as effective. Also look for a cream that contains at least 400mg of natural progesterone per ounce.
In order to relieve endometriosis symptoms ensure that you don’t use natural progesterone with synthetic progestins as these will stop the progesterone from working. Before starting using progesterone creams phase out any progestins you may be currently taking.
As with all treatments designed to help endometriosis, consult your doctor before starting anything new.
